Scenic Design

In the spring of 2024 I designed a theoretical set for Terra Nova by Ted Tally. I first started by making an inspiration board. I read through the script and looked for keywords and emotions that gave me ideas of what type of lines, shapes, textures, and colors I wanted to use in my set.

I then used recycled material to create a scaled model. I built the model to fit in the Black Box Theatre at Oklahoma City University

In the fall of 2022 I designed a bedroom set for Peter Pan. First I hand plotted the set from a bird eyes view. I then drew the sketch on the left using Projective Sight. I then used the transparent paper to trace the set onto paper. I used a mixture of water color, pastels, and color pencils to achieve my final design on the right.

Lighting Design

I had the opportunity to learn more about lighting design during my time at Oklahoma City University. I learned how to plot lights, and make instrument schedules, scene breakdowns, channel hookups, and magic sheets, emotional and quality of light research. For one project we were given one of the seven deadly sins and asked to create a look that would showcase at our end of year expo.

Software

In the fall of 2023 I took a digital drafting and rendering class at Oklahoma City University. During the class I drafted a dream shed in VectorWorks. Later in the semester we used Adobe Photoshop. We learned how to design crop and cut photos to merge them together to make one cohesive picture. We also learned how to use Photoshops blending and warp tools to color in pre-drawn pictures.
